Michigan State University (MSU) and the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MiLEAP) hosted a webinar presentation on Comparing Michigan’s Annual Licensed Provider Counts on May 20, 2025. This presentation by Dr. Jamie Wu, Holli Schlukebir, and Marissa Castellana highlighted the partnership of MSU and MiLEAP through the Child Care Mapping Project, a collaborative effort to support the development of new data infrastructure that policymakers and program leaders can use to help ensure that families across the state of Michigan have access to high-quality child care. While the Child Care Mapping Project includes several maps, this presentation focused on the Comparing Annual Licensed Provider Counts map, which illustrates annual changes in Michigan’s licensed child care supply.
