To understand how publicly funded PreK for three-year-olds (3YOs) impacts local childcare providers, local Strong Beginnings staff mapped out the ZIP codes where Strong Beginnings children live to monitor the openings and closings of licensed childcare providers. The map tracks whether public PreK is crowding out local childcare providers. Changes in childcare capacity are updated daily from the Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) database. You can explore each Strong Beginnings’ community by name. Due to the complexity of the map, it is best displayed on a computer.
